In the Studio notice how the artist holds our gaze, how they apologise for their “mess”, how they try to find the piece that fits in their hand, how they move - searching for something to occupy the space between us. How they turn: gesturing at a section of their painting, holding the brush just-so, and the light catches them in a moment of calm.

In the Studio is a reflection on artists in the spaces they use to create. It documents several emerging artists from my cohort at The Ruskin School of Art, in the final days of our BFA degree in Oxford.
